Spiritual Healing

Spiritual Healing uses natural healing energy to treat the whole person – mind, body and spirit. It can be given for any illness, stress or injury as a therapy which is completely natural, has no side effects and is complementary to orthodox medicine or any other therapy.

The word ‘Spiritual’ originates from the Latin ‘spiritus’ meaning ‘breath of life’, however if you feel uncomfortable or put off by any possible religious connotations associated with the name please rest assured you need not be; Spiritual Healing is a natural form of energy renewal compatible with all belief systems, you do not need to have a particular faith or belief to benefit from it. The channelling of healing energy is a phenomenon that is as natural and real as magnetism: it exists independently of the beliefs of participants or observers.

Spiritual Healing is in essence energy healing pure and simple. We are composed entirely of energy as is the world in which we live; Einstein proved this mathematically with his famous equation E = MC2 which states that all matter, from the atom to the elephant, is made up of energy. We are therefore for ever immersed in and surrounded by energy.

Healing energy is all around us and runs through us. It is universal - part of nature itself – and is often referred to as 'universal energy'.  You may have heard this term associated with Reiki, both Spiritual Healing and Reiki are in fact inter-related coming from the same source.

During a Spiritual Healing session universal energy is channelled through the healer to the client. Healing is a completely natural process which can have a profound effect; it is deeply relaxing bringing balance to the whole person, instilling a sense of peace and well being.

What has ‘energy’ got to do with being unwell?

When our energy runs freely without any stagnation or blocks we are healthy, vital and have a zest for life. As we travel through life we are faced with physical, emotional and spiritual difficulties. These we can hold in our energy body as unresolved feelings which create blockages in our energy field. If these are not released vitality is depleted and ill health and suffering can follow.

So how does it work?

When our energy is unbalanced or depleted resulting in illness or stress the channelled universal energy is naturally drawn to the area where it is most needed. Our bodies as a whole have a tremendous capacity for knowing what is wrong and where the help is needed, for example we can use the analogy of the food we eat, the goodness goes to where it is most needed without us having to think about it.

Spiritual Healing is non-diagnostic, it's not necessary for the problem to be known for healing to take place.

What can Spiritual Healing do for me?

Spiritual Healing can be helpful, sometimes amazingly so for a wide range of physical and psychological difficulties from minor complaints to serious illnesses and injuries. It is a process of revitalisation, relaxation and release at a profound level, which helps your body to adjust and heal at its own pace and in its own way.

We are all unique as individuals and as such our healing will be unique to ourselves. Some people will feel benefit immediately, others it may be a more gradual process. It is possible that the outcome is beneficial in an unexpected way. There may be times when you experience some kind of emotional release as part of the healing process. Sometimes the process is obvious, sometimes more subtle. This is due to the healing energy seeking out the underlying cause as well as the presenting symptom, it is not necessary for either yourself or the healer to know what the root cause is on a consc ious level – the healing energy combined with your own carries out the work.

Spiritual Healing penetrates the deepest level of our being where many illnesses have their origin. Universal energy is used to support and heal the body, returning it to a state of wholeness, well being and health.  It works on the mind, body, emotions and spirit together rather than just concentrating on the physical body.

This is not just a New Age concept, Spiritual Healing is as old as the hills. Since ancient times intelligent and enlightened people have directed us to look within for our answers to our health and healing as these two quotes demonstrate:

Every human being is the author of his own health or disease” - Buddha

"Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease” Hippocrates – Greek physician

What does it feel like?

Healing may be experienced as a flow of energy with sensations such as warmth, mild tingling or coolness. Many clients also report an over-whelming sense of calm and peace; others speak of deep relaxation or feelings of being energising. It’s worth noting some clients experience little more than warmth but the process is no less effective.

It’s possible to feel pain coming to the surface and dispersing during healing, the same applies to feelings and emotions. Far from being uncomfortable the releasing of these denser energies along with re-balancing and energising our bodies takes us further in the healing process and makes us feel so much better too.

We are all unique as individuals and as such experience energy in different ways therefore it is best to keep an open mind as to how you will experience it yourself. Spiritual Healing in general is deeply relaxing promoting inner harmony and a peaceful sense of well being.

What is asked of me?

During a session you’ll be asked to lie on a couch or sit in a comfortable chair where all you need do is relax whilst the healer works around you with their hands at a short distance from your body. Nothing is asked of you except to be open to the process, have an awareness of the need for change and the motivation to do so.

Please note Spiritual Healing is non-diagnostic, non-intrusive, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied.

Do I need to be ill to receive healing?

No, in fact it’s a great booster or pick-me-up when tired, stressed or run-down. We all tend to pack so much in to our lives there is little time left for rest and recuperation, without it our immunity and energy levels suffer. By bringing fresh healing energy in it can help prevent our susceptibility to disease and generally put the bounce back into our step. A wise person once said "our health always seems much more valuable after we lose it", so taking care of it now is simply good sense.

Healing can also be about restoring balance to your life and relationships with others, about expressing feelings, about change and the need for it irrespective of whether you are ill or not.

How does this affect treatment from my doctor?

It doesn’t, first and foremost you are under your doctor’s care and as such should consult them when sick and in times of need. Spiritual Healing is a complementary therapy to orthodox medicine rather than an alternative. You may have heard or read about the healers working for the NHS within some hospitals, they still only number a few as resources are such the majority are paid for through a charity however as medical interest grows and the benefits are being researched and documented further there is hope the numbers will increase dramatically over time.

As healing complements the treatment your doctor is giving you, tell them you’re having healing and about any positive benefits you experience. Without that feedback they cannot know the full circumstances of your progress and ultimately your journey to improved health.

How often do I need to go for healing and how long does it take?

The first session normally takes an hour, after that you can choose from 30 minute, 45 minute or 1 hour sessions dependent on your requirements and to fit in with your life-style.

Are Spiritual Healers properly trained?

Yes. I was trained in Spiritual Healing by the SAGB (Spiritualist Association of Great Britain) which is a member and founder member of the Confederation of Healing Organisations. The aim of the C.H.O. is to make healing acceptable to all including the medical profession. The aim of the Spiritual Healer is to offer a service to the medical profession, and to the sick, which is complementary to orthodox medicine and not an alternative to it.

As well as thorough training, written assignments and a practical exam it's a requirement of the SAGB for all qualified healers to work within a healing clinic under the guidance of Approved Healers for a minimum of 2 years before being granted full Approved Healer status themselves.

After training and qualifying as an Approved Healer of the SAGB I continued to work for a few more years in their Saturday healing clinic at 33 Belgrave Square, the association's head office.

I am fully insured and retain my Healer Membership with the SAGB.

As a qualified and insured healer it is stipulated that I adhere to a strict Code of Conduct. Healers’ acceptance of the Code of Conduct is regarded as a guarantee to patients and the medical profession of the healer’s integrity, sincerity and ability.
